Thailand Yacht Show 2016 – it’s a wrap!

The second edition of the new Thailand Yacht Show saw visitors enjoying sea trials and glamorous parties on superyachts, fashion shows, supercars and the very latest in on-water toys.

After four whirlwind days at Ao Po Grand Marina, the Thailand Yacht Show 2016 closed its doors on Sunday night, and organisers were able to reflect on a successful presentation of yachting to Thailand, and of Thailand to the world.

The Thailand Yacht Show 2016 (TYS) hasn’t actually started (just wait five minutes), but the action is under way. This morning M/Y Ocean Emerald and Andaman Cruises hosted a VIP and Media cruise out of Ao Po Grand Marina and towards the fairytale islands of Phang Nga Bay. It was a perfect demonstration of why Thailand, and the surroundings of Phuket in particular, can properly be described as a world class yachting destination.

Thundery skies this afternoon did nothing to subdue the festivities at the Opening Ceremony of the Thailand Yacht Show 2016. After being greeted by the Show’s managing director Andy Treadwell, accompanied by Minister of Tourism & Sport Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul and Deputy Minister of Transport Omsin Chivapruk, the Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister General Thanasak Patimaprakorn and a whole host of senior government representatives and officials were escorted through the Show’s Exhibition Pavilion and then on down to D’ Deck overlooking Ao Po Grand Marina.
